Lake Louise Inn

Alberta, Canada

Lake Louise Inn (LLI) is a resort nestled within the breathtaking Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park.

Managed by Canadian hotelier Atlific Hotels, LLI is SHARC Energy’s first installation in Alberta and the fourth PIRANHA installation across Canada.

Lake Louise recognized they were producing and wasting significant quantities of hot water, so they decided to collect hot water from their laundry systems and recycle the heat for future laundry loads.

Utilizing a PIRANHA T10 to collect the hot wastewater discharge from their laundry systems, they reduced their energy demands by as much as 85%

Quick Facts

  • Commissioned in September 2018
  • During 2 week audited trial ran for an average of 10.7 hours per day, producing a daily heat output of 375kWh (1.28 million BTU) – the equivalent of heating nearly 6500 liters (1700 US gallons) of water from 10 to 60°C (50 – 140°F)
  • Lake Louise Inn’s laundry room is propane heated
  • PIRANHA reduced propane requirement by ~1063 liters (281 gallons) the equivalent of 1.64 tonnes of CO2
  • Lowers LLI’s carbon emissions by over 80 tonnes (~17 cars off the road.)

"Our PIRANHA works great and is reliable, I’ve definitely noticed how much less our boilers run because of the reduced load. We love showing our Guests that we take actionable steps towards green energy."

Sylvain, Director of Maintenance, Lake Louise Inn
